This map appeared two years after the British bombarded Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor. Drawn by Samuel Lewis and engraved by H. S. Tanner, the actual map shows the entire state of Maryland. We have clipped the northeastern corner from the full map and it shows Cecil, Kent and Harford counties, as well as portions of the adjoining Baltimore and Queen Annes counties.

It is still about twenty years too early to show the railroads, but the main roads are shown. You will note that the route south from Elkton passes through Elk Neck and crosses the Elk River near Court House Point. A ferry operated there. Another road leads to Frenchtown, two miles south of the county seat.
